Achieve Your Optimal Dental Health! Your dental and oral health play an important role in your overall health and wellbeing. At the office of Steven F Larsen, DDS, we care about more than our patients’ teeth—we want them to have a healthy and high-quality life. That’s why we offer a full array of preventive and general dental services that are designed to achieve and maintain dental and oral health. Our goal is to prevent issues from arising and to promptly treat those that do. By using new technology, we make every procedure as comfortable and effective as possible!
Regular cleanings and exams are essential for preventing dental issues and quickly treating those that occur. We recommend patients come in for cleanings at least every six months. Beyond gently removing plaque and tartar (calculus), we will also perform an examination to determine any signs/symptoms of decay, gum disease, oral cancer, and other problems.
We perform an oral cancer screening exam to identify any symptoms of oral cancer or any pre-cancerous sores or spots. Oral cancer is a highly treatable disease when it is caught early, but it can be life-threatening if left unaddressed. That’s why we include an oral cancer screening during every routine cleaning. If we find any symptoms that we feel should be investigated further, we will provide you with a referral to a specialist.
Dr. Larsen completes continuing education on periodontal care to provide the highest quality services for patients suffering from gum disease. Gum disease can result in lost teeth, jawbone damage, and other overall health issues. We perform a nonsurgical procedure called scaling and root planing for mild to moderate gum disease. If you require more advanced care, we will refer you to an experienced periodontist.
The temporomandibular joints (TMJ) connect your jaw to your skull. Sometimes, patients experience dysfunction of these joints (TMD), which results in jaw pain, facial pain, earaches, headaches, clicking and popping in the jaw, and other symptoms. We can help diagnose TMD and provide a treatment plan for you. We offer custom-created splints and nightguards that can help prevent teeth grinding during sleep, which can contribute to TMD symptoms.
It’s important for children to feel comfortable going to the dentist, so they can build the foundations for a healthy adult smile. We offer fun, gentle, friendly dental care for patients of all ages, including children. Our team will teach you and your child how to properly care for their smile at home to prevent decay. We recommend that a child first see us around age one, so we can examine their newly erupted teeth.
